At a festive dinner hosted by VLM in Boxtel, the award was received by Klaas Cuperus on behalf of Nestlé and Albert de Groot on behalf of Vreugdenhil. The jury of the Vereniging Logistiek Management (VLM) particularly praised the aspect, that the chain is central to the programme, with much attention to the farm, where the most reduction can be achieved, but also where the most investments are needed and risks are taken.
The jury report summarized the findings as follows: ‘A complementary partnership focused on chain cooperation, which serves the sustainability gains that can be achieved mainly at the farm.’ Winning the prestigious award is great recognition for the cooperation between dairy farmers, Vreugdenhil, Nestlé, PPP-Agro Advies, WUR and other stakeholders.
Already 80 dairy farmers are participating in the Low carbon farming programme and 15% CO2 reduction has been achieved. Albert de Groot, CEO Vreugdenhil Dairy Foods: "At Vreugdenhil, we place dairy farmers at the heart of everything we do. The success of this program is the direct result of the strong collaboration between our farmers, Nestlé, and our team. This joint effort and mutual trust have allowed us to achieve a 15% CO2 reduction. It’s an important milestone, but just the beginning of what we can achieve together. This award is a fantastic acknowledgment of what is possible when we work together across the supply chain towards a sustainable future."
